If you listen to Hope 100.7, you already know the DJs always have nuggets of wisdom and truth to share with their listeners. They allow you into their lives as they walk and talk through struggles and questions. Today we have a few snippets from CJ McKay and Todd Stach about various aspects of Christian life. Enjoy!

Grace Is a Person

“I’ve got a question for you: how do you see grace? What do you think of grace? I think a lot of people see it as a doctrine or some kind of theological subject; but you know what I found out? Grace is actually a person. It’s Jesus. When I think about grace and everything that Jesus has done for us, it sets us free- free from fears, anxieties, sicknesses, addictions. Grace is a person. And when we think of it that way, right believing always produces right living and the right results in our lives.”

Perspective

“Sometimes when you’re having a bad day, you just need a little perspective. You can think about how someone else has it much worse and be grateful for all you’ve been blessed with. So here’s a couple of things to consider: your terrible job is the dream of someone who’s unemployed. Your house, that maybe needs some fixing up or some things that you don’t like about it, is the dream of someone who’s homeless. Your smile is the dream of someone who’s battling depression. Your health is the dream of someone who’s facing an illness. So for me, for you, don’t let difficult times make you forget your blessings.”

Gentleness and Accountability

“To be able to look yourself in the mirror and like what you see is an important part of life. Sometimes, I look in the mirror and I’m absolutely disgusted by what I see: physically, emotionally, spiritually, mentally; but one thing I’ve learned over the years is that I’ve gotta have the ability to look with both gentleness and accountability- equal parts. To trust deep within my God-given soul and heart that I am lovable, but also seeing the part of myself that I need to change and deal with. It feels healthy, honest, and real without beating myself up.”

What Praise Really Is

“Well, I gotta admit, I never thought of it this way, but it’s true. Praise is not just words- it’s an attitude because we know that anyone can give praise to God when things are going your way. But the test is, will you praise Him in the wilderness? Will you worship Him in spite of what’s not working? Praise Him in spite of who did you wrong? The way you bless the Lord at all times is by your praise. By always finding something to be grateful for. By not dwelling on wrongs, but thanking God for what’s right. It’s not by focusing on what you lost, but thanking God for what you have left. And by not complaining about what’s behind you, but being grateful for what’s in front of you. That is the attitude of praise.”
