Have you ever wondered if there’s any point in memorizing Scripture? You can always just look up what you need to know, right? Well, not necessarily. Sometimes you need the wisdom and comfort of God’s Word in a crisis, or a time of temptation. Sometimes you’re not near your Bible or your phone. Memorizing Scripture helps you keep the Word of God at the forefront of your mind. It prepares you to be able to share your faith confidently, encourage believers Biblically, and renew your thoughts with God’s actual words, instead of believing the enemy’s lies. Imagine if you commit to memorize one verse a week for a whole year. You would have at least 50 verses memorized even if you fell a little behind! If that goal seems out of reach for you, try one verse a month. Time spent in the Word is never a waste of time. Here are a few verses you might want to start with.

John 3.16 NIV

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
