When it’s time for date night, do you end up suddenly devoid of all creative ideas? Do you end up eating at the same place and talking about the same things as last time? Let these five fun date night ideas spark your imagination and help you plan some date nights that’ll give you memories for a lifetime! Don’t let your budget (or lack of one) keep you from having fun quality time with your spouse. You can make these date night experiences as cheap or as indulgent as you’d like!
Scavenger Hunt
There are lots of options for scavenger hunt lists online. There are options for virtual hunts, mall hunts, indoor hunts, food hunts…you get the idea, the options are limitless. You can stay at home or drive all over town. Find one that suits you and your spouse and have a blast!
If there’s a town you’d like to explore, have a friend who’s familiar or who lives there write up a scavenger hunt list of all the best things to do/see/eat there. Send them pictures of your favorites!
Make Dinner Together
Put on some music, have your favorite drinks made, and cook your favorite meal together. Or, decide on a meal neither one of you have tried and make that. You could even make it like a game show: go to the grocery store together, get random ingredients, and when you get home you have to figure out what to make using all the ingredients you bought.
If the whole idea of picking a recipe and shopping is too much for you, pick up or order a meal kit. Many grocery stores are now carrying pre-measured kits for different kinds of meals that make the prep a snap.
Date Jar
This is the date night activity that keeps on giving! Spend an evening talking about different things you’d like to do and experience together. Write each thing down on a slip of paper and add it to your date jar to be chosen from on later dates. For extra fun- add some secret ideas that you don’t let each other see. That way when it’s time to draw, some of the ideas will be complete surprises!

YouTube Tutorial
Pick something to learn together, and then use a YouTube tutorial to get started. A few fun ideas could be painting (follow a Bob Ross video!), dancing, massage techniques, cake decorating, etc. Or- if you have a friend that’s really good at something like watercolor painting or flower arranging, set up a private class!
Plan A Trip
Plan a dream trip, a week-long vacation, a weekend away, a camping excursion- whatever you want! The planning is half the fun, and it’s free! It’s so exciting to think about where to go, what to do, what you’re going to eat or cook, what sights you want to see. Start a travel journal and write down each idea you two dream up. After you take the trip, write down your favorite memories, add a few pictures, and you’ve got a sweet little memento of your trip and how it came to be!
Date nights are an important part of marriage and staying close through the ups and downs of life. Keep it fresh! Have any ideas to add? Let us know in the comments.
